Worcester CAMRA Members news \u2013 October 2023<\/p>\n

1. Worcester Beer Festival’s Journey in 2023<\/p>\n

This year, the Worcester Beer Festival faced significant challenges, primarily due to its relocation to the Pitchcroft Grandstand. This shift brought about inevitable alterations in layout, security measures, and the availability of beer and cider, not to mention the intricate planning required for volunteers. Despite these hurdles, it brings us immense pleasure to announce that the Beer Festival emerged triumphant, generating a healthy profit. While it’s natural for teething problems to arise after such substantial changes, our post-event analysis has left us feeling optimistic. We eagerly anticipate the Worcester CAMRA beer, cider, and perry festival in 2024.<\/p>\n

2. The Summer Break and Upcoming Excitements<\/p>\n

With the summer break behind us, we can’t help but wish for better weather. However, the upcoming months promise a wealth of social gatherings, survey trips, CAMRA meetings, Christmas socials, and local beer festivals. For detailed information, be sure to consult the Worcester CAMRA diary.<\/p>\n

3. Celebrating ‘The Dragon’<\/p>\n

In a heartwarming turn of events, our beloved local haunt, ‘The Dragon,’ basked in glory during a September 20, 2023 presentation. The establishment was named Worcester Pub of the Year and clinched the prestigious title of Worcestershire Pub of the Year. This double triumph is a testament to the pub’s unwavering charm and quality. Jo and the entire team were delighted to receive these well-deserved awards, and we extend our hearty congratulations to them for providing Worcestershire with a true gem of a pub.<\/p>\n

4. Welcoming CAMRA Representatives to Worcester<\/p>\n

On September 23, 2023, we hosted representatives from various CAMRA branches across the West Midlands in Worcester. The occasion was the West Midlands CAMRA Regional meeting, graciously hosted by the Cardinal’s Hat. We applaud the Cardinal’s Hat for their outstanding hospitality. The event featured guided tours of Worcester’s pubs, allowing many West Midlands CAMRA members to savour the delights of our city’s vibrant pub scene.<\/p>\n

5. The CAMRA Beer Scoring League Table<\/p>\n

It’s time we shed light on the CAMRA Beer Scoring League Table, which operates from the beginning to the end of each year and reflects the beer ratings provided by CAMRA members in Worcester CAMRA pubs. We’re delighted to report that The Dragon Inn, Bull Baiters Inn, Weavers-Malvern, Imperial, and Nags Head-Malvern are leading the charts as the top-scoring pubs this year. In terms of individual achievements, Neil Berry, Philip Kay, and Jason Mills have emerged as the top beer scorers thus far in the year, and with a few months remaining, the competition remains fierce.<\/p>\n
